Quintet No. 18. I. Andante.
Double bassist John Feeney and the Loma Mar Quartet (collectively known as Dragonetti's New Academy or DNA) have recorded Dragonetti’s Quintet no. 18 on their new CD, Dragonetti’s New Academy. Through stylish performances using period instruments, Feeney and his colleagues bring Dragonetti’s forgotten chamber music to the fore, showcasing them as musical gems of the 19th century. Recorded under the auspices of the Classical Recording Foundation, this disc represents DNA's first world premiere recording of the unpublished music of Domenico Dragonetti. These works are being published by Grancino Editions in a new complete edition edited by Feeney, Domenico Dragonetti: The Complete Chamber Music.

Grancino works recorded: Six Concertos in Four Parts for Violoncello Obbligato, Two Violins and a Second Violoncello (ECS35)
Note: In this recording, the string parts have been multiplied to provide for a larger orchestral accompaniment. However, the obbligato cello writing, particularly in tutti sections, suggest that these concerti are best performed with one on a part. To move further afield, two of the concerti recorded here have had wind parts added (!) as composed by the soloist.
